Somewhere between Curaçao and Venezuela lies in the warm Caribbean Sea “Isla de Tortuga”. Bola and Shaki, the green sea turtles were born there. They live on the coral reef in front of the coast.
Mina Marina, the exotic mermaid lives in her Bohío, deep on the seabed near Curacao. She takes Bola to a world of adventures. What will they find in the mysterious dark areas of the deep sea? And what has Mina’s grandma Welita to do with this?
The Caribbean Sea is being polluted en the coral reef is destroyed because people are unwise about it. Mina is desperate when Bola gets seriously ill and the sea life is threatened. She calls for help to her sister Lala and her native friend Perucho. He believes strongly in the power of the waterspirits. Would they succeed to stop the pollution and the destruction of the coral reefs?
'The story Mina Marina is about life and death. The sea give us water, sea life and much more. Without water we don't live. That's why it is important dat we keep, not only the land and the air clean, but also the seas, rivers and lakes, in short all water around us, healthy. It is vital for us and everybody who comes after us. Keep our waters therefore clean and healthy, now and always!.’
